MRT stations and trains play security messages to remind commuters to stay alert, and report suspicious activity or articles to station staff. Videos are also aired at MRT stations, NE line trains and buses to educate people on how to react appropriately. In addition, security posters and brochures are also placed at areas of public transport.

The SMRT Community Emergency Preparedness (SCEP) Programme educates and engages grassroots leaders, the community and students like yourselves on topics like transport security awareness and emergency response. Working together with the MHA’s Home Team Departments and LTA, the programme has trained more than 5,164 participants over 39 briefing sessions & 11 practical detrainment exercises
so far. |
For SBS Transit, Community Train
Evacuation Exercises started in November
2007 and are ongoing on a quarterly basis for
residents along the North East Line corridor. Together with constituency offices, residents are briefed on security measures and practices that are in place at the stations and on board trains. They also go through evacuation drills. |
