In public places with high volume of commuter traffic, it pays to be highly aware and alert of your surroundings. Before suspicious items are left behind, the ‘planters’ (individuals leaving articles behind) often exhibit tell-tale signs, behaviour and activities that give them away, so keep your eyes & ears peeled for individuals who are:
- Fidgety, have cold sweat or mumbling to themselves softly
- Overly dressed for the weather, e.g. bulky clothing
- Looking anxiously at the article with them, e.g. bag, haversack
- Loitering for a very long time in certain places e.g. a man pacing along the station platform
- Taking photos of surveillance cameras and access control procedures in public transport systems
e.g. MRT station/train
